Applies to:
CB Auditor Candidates in the new auditor 4-day qualification process
CB Auditors under the previous 5-day qualification process undergoing requalification

The answer to this question depends on your initial auditor qualification process.  Please review the appropriate section below:

4-day New Auditor Qualification Process

(For all new auditor candidates since 2022, and pilot candidates in 2021.  You may have a 3-AUD-B identifying number.)

You have a total of four (4) retake attempts per competency area to achieve a green score.  You must achieve a green result within one year (12 months) of your Initial Assessment date.

In addition, if you receive one or more red scores in Application competency areas, you must re-attend the 4-day New Auditor Training event before you can attempt any retakes in the ADP.

Once you achieve at least a yellow result in all competency areas, you will be able to conduct audits on a provisional basis.  However, if you fail to achieve a green score in one or more competency areas by the time limit or retake attempt limit, you must restart the new auditor qualification process.

5-day New Auditor Requalification Process

(All new auditor candidates before 2022, except 2021 pilot candidates.  You may have a 3-FR/GE/IT/UK/US or 4-ADP identifying number.)

If you received a red result in one or more competency areas (less than 50% score), you have three (3) retake attempts to upgrade each of these competency areas to at least yellow.  This must be completed within 120 days.

If you received a yellow result in one or more competency areas (less than 80% score in Knowledge, less than 75% score in Application), you will have three (3) retake attempts to upgrade each competency to green.  This must be completed within 12 months.

This means that, if you have a score that starts in red, you will have three attempts and 120 days to achieve yellow, and then after that 3 more attempts and one year (from that point) to achieve green.  These attempts do not "stack" -- as soon as you move from red to yellow, you are reset to three new attempts.

If you have a mix of yellow and red scores, your deadline for yellow competencies will be extended as soon as you upgrade all your red competencies to at least yellow.  We strongly recommend all requalifying auditors prioritize all red competencies first.

If you fail to achieve a green score in one or more competency areas by the time or retake attempt limit, you must restart the new auditor qualification process.
